On the fourth and final day of his official state visit to Japan, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inspected the world-renowned Motomachi Plant of Toyota Motor Corporation in Aichi Prefecture. Departing Tokyo early in the morning, the Prime Minister and his official delegation traveled via Japan’s high-speed Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Nagoya, Aichi.
Upon arrival at the plant, the Prime Minister was warmly received by senior executives, engineers, and plant managers of Toyota Motor Corporation.
Established in 1959, the historic Motomachi Plant serves as Toyota’s primary manufacturing hub for premium models, including the Crown and the Mirai (hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle). The Prime Minister toured the robotic assembly lines, observing Toyota’s eco-friendly hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) technologies, and received a detailed briefing on the Toyota Production System (TPS) and zero-carbon emission strategies.
During high-level interactions with Toyota executives, the Prime Minister invited global automotive giants to invest in research and development, local vehicle assembly plants, and joint ventures in Bangladesh. He highlighted Bangladesh’s strategic location and expanding economy, positioning it as an ideal manufacturing hub for South Asia.
Following an official luncheon hosted by Toyota management, the Prime Minister returned to Tokyo via Shinkansen to proceed to Narita International Airport. He is scheduled to depart Tokyo for Dhaka this evening (October 29) aboard a special long-range Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
