Following popular Bollywood singer Arijit Singh’s announcement regarding his step back from playback singing, fans were left eagerly anticipating his upcoming releases. Ending the long wait, the celebrated artist has lent his voice to the track titled “Yeh Awarapan” for the highly anticipated film Awarapan 2. The song is set for its official release today, Tuesday (July 21).
The track has been crafted to capture the emotion, solitude, and inner turmoil of the film’s lead character, Shivam. Composed by Amaal Mallik with lyrics penned by Rashmi Virag, “Yeh Awarapan” marks one of the singer’s recent projects. Although Arijit announced months ago that he would not be signing new playback offers, he promised to honor his existing commitments. It is believed that this recording is part of those prior contractual agreements.
Arijit Singh shares a long-standing professional collaboration with producer Vishesh Bhatt. Their creative partnership began in 2011 with the iconic song “Phir Mohabbat” from the movie Murder 2. Subsequently, they delivered a string of chartbusters together in blockbuster soundtracks such as Aashiqui 2, CityLights, Khamoshiyan, and Hamari Adhuri Kahani.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi alongside Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, and Atul Kumar in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14.
