Litton Das has now been named the captain of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for ODI cricket as well, taking full charge of the white-ball formats through the upcoming World Cup. As a result, Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been relieved of his ODI captaincy duties. Meanwhile, Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue to lead the national side in the red-ball format (Test cricket).
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal announced these decisions to journalists following a Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday (July 29).
The BCB President stated that the board was deeply impressed by Litton’s leadership qualities, leading to his appointment as white-ball captain, with Towhid Hridoy serving as his vice-captain. He added that while Miraz was also successful as a captain, the decision to change leadership was made through mutual discussions between both parties.
Notably, before taking over as the full-time ODI captain, Litton led Bangladesh in 7 ODIs, securing 3 wins, 3 losses, and 1 no-result.
