The Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team maintained their winning momentum at the same Darwin venue where Bangladesh made history against Australia last week. Guided by a composure-filled half-century from Sabir Hossain, the HP side clinched a thrilled 3-wicket victory over the Hobart Hurricanes Academy to register their second straight win in the Top End T20 Series.
Chasing a target of 154 at the Marrara Oval on Sunday, Bangladesh HP found themselves under early pressure, losing four wickets for just 60 runs within 7 overs.
Sabir Hossain stitched a crucial 46-run partnership with Shamim Hossain to steady the chase. After Sabir’s departure with 40 needed off the final 5 overs, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain (19*) and Abu Hider Rony (8*) held their nerve to finish the game.
Controlled Bowling Effort: Bangladesh HP captain Irfan Sukkur elected to bowl after winning the toss. Off-spinner Mohammad Rubel led the attack with 3 for 25, while Ripon Mondol claimed 2 wickets, keeping Hobart Academy to 153/7 despite Teague Wyllie’s unbeaten 78.
Flawless Campaign Start: Following their dominant 9-wicket victory over Nepal ‘A’ in the tournament opener, Bangladesh HP now sit at the top of the standings.
