Sheffield United has virtually finalized a permanent deal to sign British-Bangladeshi midfielder Hamza Choudhury. English outlet The Star confirmed on Sunday (August 30, 2026) that the agreement to bring Choudhury back to Bramall Lane from Leicester City is all but complete.
The Blades moved swiftly to secure Choudhury as a cover for regular right-back Femi Seriki, who sustained an injury. Following his medical examination, an official announcement is expected prior to Tuesday’s clash against Bolton Wanderers. Having impressed during a loan spell in the second half of the 2024–25 season with 19 appearances, Choudhury joins Sheffield United on a permanent basis for a nominal transfer fee.
Having worked with manager Chris Wilder at both Watford and Sheffield United, Choudhury benefits from a strong tactical understanding and appreciation for his versatility and work ethic.
With Joe Rothwell and Jaïro Riedewald approaching the end of their contracts next summer, and Kalvin Phillips currently on loan, Choudhury secures a pivotal long-term role in Sheffield’s core setup.
