Bangladesh ‘A’ captain Towhid Hridoy led from the front with a magnificent double century to put the visitors in a strong position in response to South Africa ‘A’s massive first-innings total. On Day 3 of the second four-day match at the NWC Oval in Potchefstroom, Hridoy reached his double century off 335 balls.
Hridoy remained unbeaten on 204 off 339 balls at the close of play, driving Bangladesh ‘A’ to 471 for 6. The visitors now trail South Africa ‘A’s first-innings total of 512 by just 41 runs.
This marks Hridoy’s second double century in first-class cricket. With this feat, he becomes only the fourth Bangladeshi batter to score a first-class double century on foreign soil, joining an elite list that includes Shahriar Hossain Bidyut, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan.
Hridoy becomes the 4th Bangladeshi batter to score a first-class double century abroad, following Shahriar Hossain Bidyut (2003), Mushfiqur Rahim (2013), and Shakib Al Hasan (2017).
This is the second double century of his first-class career, following his previous high score of 217 for BCB South Zone against North Zone in Chattogram.
