On the occasion of the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Party Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid rich tributes to the party’s founder, late President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
On Tuesday morning (September 1, 2026), he visited Agargaon in the capital to lay floral wreaths at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia. Following the offering of flowers, Tarique Rahman, along with senior party leaders, participated in a special munajat (supplication).
Speaking after the tribute, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General (acting Secretary-General) Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated that the BNP remains deeply aligned with the expectations and aspirations of the public. He emphasized that the party was founded on the core principles of safeguarding independence, bolstering national sovereignty, and restoring democracy. As part of a five-day anniversary program, the party hoisted national and party flags across its central office in Naya Paltan and countrywide offices, alongside initiating tree-plantation drives.
