⚡ Bangladesh Issues Gazette Specifying Special Incentive Package for Battery-Backed Rooftop Solar Power
ENERGY & ECONOMICS DESK
To ensure long-term and sustainable energy security across the country, the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources has issued an official gazette notification detailing a special incentive package for installing battery-backed rooftop solar systems.
The development was officially confirmed on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) by Deputy Chief Information Officer Muhammad Arif Sadeq. According to the gazette, the new policy takes effect today (Wednesday, September 2, 2026).
Under the new directives, the maximum base production cost of battery-integrated rooftop solar power has been set at BDT 8.00 per unit. However, as part of the special incentive scheme—incorporating a 20% profit margin and an 11.25% premium—the final feed-in tariff has been fixed at BDT 10.50 per unit. Consumers who install rooftop solar systems and feed excess electricity into the national grid before February 28 of next year will receive this rate of BDT 10.50 per unit for the subsequent three years (valid through February 28, 2030).
