Anticipation among tech enthusiasts is mounting ahead of Apple’s market entry with its first foldable smartphone, dubbed the ‘iPhone Ultra’. According to a recent report by market intelligence firm International Data Corporation (IDC), the premium foldable device is projected to carry an Average Selling Price (ASP) of $2,550.
As reported by tech publication Mashable on Friday, price predictions and analytical breakdowns are surfacing ahead of Apple’s annual iPhone unveil event on September 9. Industry leaks indicate base pricing could start at $2,000 or $2,399, with higher-tier storage configurations reaching up to $3,000. Despite the steep price point, IDC forecasts that Apple could sell over 17 million units of the iPhone Ultra by the end of 2027, generating over $45.7 billion in revenue.
Nabila Popal, Senior Research Director at IDC, noted that Apple’s entry will not only reignite growth across the foldable segment but is also positioned to capture over half of the global foldable market’s total value—directly challenging the long-standing dominance of Samsung and Huawei. Official specifications and finalized pricing tiers remain subject to confirmation at Apple’s formal keynote event.
