Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi expressed optimism that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will undertake an official visit to India at a mutually convenient and opportune time. He reiterated that Bangladesh and India will continue to work jointly to advance environmental conservation, expand bilateral trade, and deepen people-to-people ties between the two neighboring nations.
The High Commissioner made these remarks during a media briefing following a courtesy meeting with Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Abdul Awal Mintoo at the Secretariat on Monday (September 7, 2026). “Beyond economic and commercial interests, India and Bangladesh share numerous joint environmental and climate challenges. Both nations will work shoulder-to-shoulder to address these issues,” High Commissioner Trivedi stated. He added that New Delhi remains fully committed to fostering robust people-to-people connectivity and economic partnerships.
Highlighting the outcome of the bilateral talks, Environment Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo noted that Bangladesh shares a deep-rooted economic and commercial partnership with India. As neighboring nations, continuous political, commercial, and diplomatic dialogue will persist to tackle climate change, protect cross-border ecosystems, and streamline trade.
