Information and Broadcasting Minister Andaleeve Rahman Partha stated that ensuring the active participation of honest, qualified, and principled individuals in politics is essential to achieving sustainable national development and progress. He delivered these remarks as the chief guest during a seminar held at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building on Friday afternoon (September 11, 2026).
Addressing the crisis of leadership, the Information Minister noted, “Over the past 17 years, a severe crisis of leadership has emerged across all spheres, particularly in politics. A deep atmosphere of mistrust has developed to the point where even the children of politicians no longer wish to enter politics. However, we must realize how vital healthy political engagement is for nation-building.”
To emphasize the importance of cultivating good leadership, he cited a metaphor: “If you don’t have a good cook, you can’t have good food.” He explained that just as high-quality ingredients cannot yield a good meal without a skilled chef, achievements in development cannot endure without qualified, forward-thinking politicians. While physical infrastructure and gas supply represent tangible physical progress, the country’s pressing need today is qualitative, sustainable development anchored in talent and integrity.
Calling upon veteran political leaders, he urged them to facilitate smooth entry pathways for the next generation, making the political environment welcoming and accessible for talented young citizens.
