Acclaimed filmmaker R. Balki is reportedly developing a large-scale superhero project featuring Bollywood actor Aamir Khan. According to trade media outlet Bollywood Hungama, preliminary discussions between Khan, director R. Balki, and veteran producer Sajid Nadiadwala are currently underway and progressing positively.
Screenwriting for the mega-budget project has commenced. While Khan has expressed initial creative interest in the concept, no formal contract has been executed. True to his signature process, the actor refrains from signing until a script reaches full completion, leading the creative team to build the project around his structural feedback.
Should the deal finalize, the film will mark the first professional collaboration among Khan, Nadiadwala, and Balki. Despite a long-standing personal friendship between Khan and Nadiadwala, the duo has never partnered on a cinematic venture. R. Balki—known for high-concept, non-formulaic narratives such as Cheeni Kum, Paa, Ki & Ka, and Pad Man—is expected to deliver a distinct interpretation of the superhero genre within Indian cinema.
This development follows Khan’s earlier discussions in 2025 with Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a pan-Indian superhero film, which was ultimately shelved due to script development issues. Concurrently, Khan is evaluating scripts for Race 4. His next confirmed project remains Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lalkara, a sports drama centered around the historical 1952 India-Pakistan Test series scheduled for production in November 2026, alongside potential involvement in Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming 3 Idiots sequel.
