The Bangladesh women’s football team’s Asian Games campaign came to an end with a hard-fought draw against Myanmar. The Red and Green representatives exited the tournament following a 0-0 draw in their final group-stage fixture.
The two sides met at the Nagai Stadium in Osaka on Monday (September 21, 2026).
Myanmar took an aggressive approach right from the opening whistle. However, Bangladesh goalkeeper Rupna Chakma delivered an outstanding performance between the posts to prevent Myanmar from finding the back of the net. Bangladesh created a few chances in the first half, most notably when Ritu Porna’s long-range effort narrowly missed the target.
In the second half, Myanmar mounted multiple attacks in search of a decisive goal. Although Myanmar dominated possession and controlled the tempo, Bangladesh’s resilient defense and attentive goalkeeping kept them at bay. Both teams ultimately shared points at the final whistle.
Having lost their opening two group matches against North Korea and South Korea, Bangladesh’s direct qualification path to the quarterfinals was ruled out prior to the match. A large-margin victory against Myanmar would have preserved a slim mathematical chance of advancing to the last eight as a best third-placed team. However, the goalgap and 0-0 draw put an end to those calculations. Bangladesh concluded their Asian Games campaign at the bottom of the group in 4th place with 1 point.
