The 10-team qualifying tournament to determine the final spots for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will take place from February 26 to March 21, 2027. South Africa and Namibia have been officially confirmed as joint hosts for the high-stakes event.
According to the revised schedule finalized during ICC meetings in Dubai, the qualifiers will be staged in the window immediately following South Africa’s SA20 league (January 17 – February 21) and just prior to the kickoff of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Free from scheduling clashes with major franchise T20 leagues, former world champions West Indies and Full Member nation Ireland will both be able to field their strongest possible squads.
Based on the official ICC ODI Team Rankings as of September 30, 2026, West Indies and Ireland qualified directly for the 10-team qualifier. For the Caribbean side, who missed out on the 2023 World Cup in India, this represents a crucial opportunity to redeem themselves on the global stage.
Directly Qualified Teams (8 Nations): India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh have already secured direct passage to the main group stage via rankings.
Host Nation Status: Co-hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe receive automatic entry into the main tournament. However, as a non-Full Member, third co-host Namibia must fight through the qualifying tournament to earn a spot.
