President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon the youth to step forward into business and entrepreneurship to accelerate the nation’s economic momentum. He made these remarks on Monday (October 5, 2026) at Bangabhaban during a courtesy call by a 21-member delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), led by DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed.
During the meeting, the President highlighted the necessity of joint efforts between government initiatives and the private sector to adopt new technologies and eliminate obstacles hindering industrial expansion.
Addressing the DCCI delegation, the President outlined several strategic guidelines aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth:
Youth Entrepreneurship & Modern Tech: The President emphasized active involvement of young entrepreneurs to stay competitive globally amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), digital transformation, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Lowering Bank Interest Rates & Historical Context: To promote trade and new investments, the President urged a reduction in bank lending rates. He recalled the low-interest bank loan policies during former President Ziaur Rahman’s tenure, noting that those groundbreaking measures catalyzed industrialization and spurred new entrepreneurs in underdeveloped regions like Rajshahi and northern Bangladesh.
Rapid Development of Alternative Energy: Considering the current global energy landscape, he urged business leaders to proactively develop alternative energy infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted industrial production.
