The ‘LP Gas Traders Cooperative Association’ has issued a 7-point mandate to restore discipline in the distribution network of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and offset rising operational overheads. To press for their demands, the organization has called a 2-day nationwide shutdown of all LPG shops and retail sales, scheduled for Thursday and Friday (October 16 and 17, 2026).
The trade body formally communicated its decision to the media via an official press release issued on Monday.
Enhancement of Distributor Commission: Due to escalating costs associated with fuel price hikes, licensing fees, loading/unloading overheads, and holding costs of idle cylinders, the distributor commission mandated by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) must be raised from the current ৳50 per cylinder to ৳150 or 7% of the retail price.
Price Adjustments Through BERC: Marketing companies adjusting gas prices multiple times a month must do so strictly via official announcements from BERC.
Refilling Idle Cylinders of Inactive Marketers: Idle cylinders owned by companies currently unable to supply gas should be systematically refilled under government oversight or through the respective companies.
Inclusion of Actual Price on Invoices: Supplying companies must explicitly declare the genuine wholesale price on invoice documents.
Guaranteed Freight & Delivery Allowances: Marketers that do not deliver gas directly to distributor warehouses must provide fair freight compensation to distributors.
Cease Traffic Police Harassment: Traffic police must stop issuing penalties on delivery pickups and trucks under the pretext of ‘railing’ issues when vehicle documentation is fully compliant.
End Unfair Penalties by DNCRP: The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) must cease imposing unfair fines and administrative harassment on distributors and retailers.
