Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has declared that individual citizenship identity, rather than religious affiliation, will serve as the primary cornerstone in state governance and the rebuilding of Bangladesh. Highlighting the shared legacy of the 1971 Liberation War, the long movement for democratic restoration, and the historic 2024 mass uprising, the Prime Minister called upon people of all faiths to remain united in the ongoing journey of national transformation.
The Prime Minister made these remarks on Sunday night (October 18, 2026) while exchanging Sharadiya Durga Puja greetings with members of the Sanatan (Hindu) community during his visits to the Mohakhali Raksha Kali Temple and the Banani Puja Pandal in the capital.
