The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Managing Director of Diamond World and a member of the central Industry and Commerce Sub-Committee of the banned Awami League, over allegations of laundering massive amounts of foreign currency under the guise of importing gold and diamonds. He was apprehended from Dhaka’s Banani area at 6:00 PM on Monday (October 19, 2026) following a formal request from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to DB sources, Agarwala was initially taken to the DB headquarters on Minto Road before legal procedures were completed to hand him over to CID custody for further interrogation.
