Urging the youth to thwart all conspiracies involving misinformation, religious extremism, and communal division, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called on the young generation to remain vocal in defense of truth, justice, and human dignity.
The President delivered his keynote address as the chief guest during a state reception hosted at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Wednesday (October 21, 2026) to mark Sharadiya Durga Puja and Bijoya Dashami 2026. First Lady Rahat Ara Begum was also present at the reception.
“Attempts are made at times to sow discord through rumors, propaganda, and religious fanaticism. We must stand firm and uncompromising against such ill-advised motives. Above all, our youth must remain steadfast and vocal for truth, justice, and humanity.”
To guarantee equal civic amenities, constitutional protections, and social justice for citizens of all faiths, the President advocated forming a high-level National Committee.
Reaffirming communal harmony, the President stated: “Faith belongs to the individual, but the state belongs to everyone. The right to security and justice is universal. Whether Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, or Christian—we are all citizens of this nation. The Constitution guarantees equal rights, dignity, and freedom of religion. The government remains fully committed to fulfilling this standard.”
Highlighting global instability, the President remarked that while wars, violence, and sectarian clashes rage in various parts of the world, Bangladesh’s peaceful, multi-faith celebrations stand as the cornerstone of its national unity.
Earlier in the Durbar Hall, executive leaders from the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust, Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front, Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, and Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee presented floral bouquets to congratulate the President and First Lady.
