Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, expressed their firm commitment to expanding, sustaining, and diversifying the long-standing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait into a multifaceted strategic partnership.
The high-level bilateral summit took place at the Permanent Mission of Kuwait to the United Nations in New York, USA, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 81).
During the meeting, both leaders identified several priority sectors to strengthen financial and strategic cooperation. Key discussions focused on boosting the export of skilled manpower from Bangladesh, opening new employment avenues, enhancing bilateral trade, encouraging mutual investment, and expanding broader economic collaboration.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman recalled with deep respect the historical foundations of diplomatic ties established during the tenures of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He noted that the strong foundation of mutual respect, goodwill, and cooperation built during those years has continued to expand over time. In light of the evolving global context, he emphasized elevating these ties to new heights for the shared prosperity of both nations.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of maintaining regular high-level exchanges and reciprocal visits between the political leaderships of both countries. Furthermore, they reaffirmed their commitment to working together on energy security, infrastructure investment, and strategic regional cooperation.
