Tehran has delivered a stern response to sustained strategic pressure and threats of new economic sanctions from Washington. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, issued a direct message to the international community, declaring that Iran possesses full capability to launch direct missile strikes against any designated target without geographic or operational limitations.
The speaker’s statement was published by Iranian state media on Tuesday (September 22, 2026).
Ghalibaf, a key military and political decision-maker involved in indirect contacts with the US, emphasized that Tehran is confronting a multi-pronged hybrid war orchestrated by Western powers.
“Whether this coordinated conflict manifests in economic, military, diplomatic, or technological dimensions, Iran will never submit nor allow the nation to be brought to a standstill,” he stated.
The parliamentary speaker further reiterated that Iran will leverage its full defensive capabilities against any threat to its national sovereignty, vowing that strategic readiness will render opposing forces powerless across every domain.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran have intensified in recent days. The Trump administration has signaled imminent international sanctions against Iranian airlines and energy logistics, while Tehran continues to demonstrate its defense and missile capabilities in the region. Coming immediately after China’s formal opposition to US sanctions and ahead of high-stakes bilateral talks between Washington and Beijing, Ghalibaf’s remarks have drawn close attention across global financial and geopolitical markets.
