West Bengal Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Dilip Ghosh has leveled serious allegations claiming that ‘foreign powers’—specifically pointing toward Bangladesh—are surreptitiously inciting the ongoing nationwide political protests demanding the removal of India’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and the cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
He made these explosive remarks while speaking to reporters on Monday evening (October 12, 2026) following a Durga Puja inauguration ceremony in Habra, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
‘Cockroach Janata Party’ and Claims of Sabotage: Dilip Ghosh derided the opposition alliance as the “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP), characterizing their street demonstrations as ‘subversive’ acts against national sovereignty. He asserted that pulling the threads of the current agitation reveals clear linkages to external foreign handlers.
References to Bangladeshi Ministers’ Facebook Posts: Pointing directly across the border, the West Bengal minister stated, “One only needs to look at the Facebook posts of Bangladeshi ministers to understand who is backing this movement. We have stated this before, and now many others are raising questions. Where their encouragement comes from and why it arrives is now proven beyond doubt.”
Scathing Critique of Delhi Protests: Asked about clashes between police and opposition demonstrators during the ‘March for Democracy’ toward the Election Commission in New Delhi, Ghosh dismissed the agitation, remarking that as elections approach, opposition parties face repeated defeats and are merely “breaking a sweat before Durga Puja to stay relevant in the media.”
