In a firm declaration amid rising regional and global tensions, Major General Mostafa Izadi, Deputy Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), asserted that the Iranian Armed Forces hold total control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
He warned that Tehran’s absolute military control over the vital maritime choke point will persist for as long as the Islamic Republic desires. The statement, initially reported by Iran’s state news agency IRNA, was highlighted on Tuesday (October 20, 2026) by Pakistani news outlet Dawn.
Amid lingering volatility in global energy markets, the IRGC deputy commander emphasized that Iran’s geopolitical and military dominance over the Strait of Hormuz remains absolute and registered in Tehran’s favor.
General Izadi highlighted that both the IRGC Navy and the IRGC Aerospace Force maintain active operational deployments in the sensitive waterway, possessing complete domain awareness and intelligence superiority over maritime traffic.
Accusing Western powers and adversaries of employing psychological tactics to alienate the public, Izadi urged Iranian citizens to remain united to protect national achievements and thwart foreign plots.
The declaration comes as global energy markets grapple with Middle East volatility, pushing Brent crude prices to a 5-month high of $97 per barrel. With approximately one-fifth of the world’s petroleum consumption passing through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s military claims have heightened anxieties across global trade routes.
