Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan has arrived in Mumbai to begin shooting for his upcoming action film “Borbaad”, with filming set to start tomorrow. Domestic products were the primary drivers of inflation in Bangladesh, accounting for 74 percent of the overall inflation in September 2024. Sena Insurance PLC (SIPLC) reported a Tk 3.88 crore profit for July-September 2024. This was a 17 percent decline from the same period last year. The company’s earnings per share (EPS) dropped to Tk 0.97 for the quarter, compared to Tk 1.18 a year earlier. The insurer said the downfall in EPS was driven by a decrease in business income, according to its disclosure on the website of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). Stocks in Bangladesh inched up for the second consecutive day as shares of fundamentally strong companies started to rise. The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), advanced 45 points, or 0.87 percent, to 5,218 as of 1:36 pm today, with Tk 218 crore traded. Among the stocks, 297 advanced, 55 declined and 42 remained unchanged at the DSE. The stock market index in the Chittagong Stock Exchange also saw the same trend. Bangladesh Bank today hiked the policy or repo rate further by 50 basis points to 10 percent in its efforts to rein in inflation, which has been stubbornly high for the last two years.
