More than 20 prominent actors who have featured in Marvel films and television series have joined “Free Marwan Now,” an international campaign demanding the immediate release of Palestinian political leader Marwan Barghouti from Israeli prison. The global platform brings together over 200 figures from the international arts, music, and literary communities.
The campaign claims that the 68-year-old Palestinian leader has been subjected to solitary confinement, physical abuse, and denial of legal rights since 2023. The coalition has called upon the United Nations and world governments to take active measures toward securing his immediate release.
Prison Safety Concerns: In February 2024, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir ordered Barghouti’s transfer to Ramon Prison, placing him in strict solitary confinement over intelligence reports alleging plans for a West Bank uprising. Rising reports of physical and psychological abuse have triggered severe concern among Palestinians regarding his safety.
