Despite stellar performances against Australia, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam has been denied a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to join English county side Kent. The board cited a heavy upcoming international schedule and the need to manage his overall workload. However, right-arm pacer Syed Khaled Ahmed has been granted approval to play for the same county club.
Shoriful was expected to follow Hasan Mahmud in representing Kent. However, with crucial red-ball series lined up against Afghanistan, the West Indies, and South Africa between September and October, the BCB opted against risking a player who is a key fixture across all three formats and has recently recovered from an injury.
Workload & Injury Management: Shoriful bounced back from an injury during the Australia series to take 7 wickets in the second Test at Darwin. With fellow pacer Nahid Rana missing the entire tour due to a side strain, the BCB prioritized keeping its core fast bowlers fresh for key international fixtures.
Golden Opportunity for Khaled: While Shoriful stays back for rest and preparation, Khaled Ahmed proactively applied for the NOC and secured approval, offering him a valuable opportunity to refine his red-ball bowling skills in English conditions.
