Stating that teachers across the country faced continuous deprivation, neglect, and discrimination under the previous regime, Education Minister Anam Ehsanul Hoque Milan announced key initiatives to ensure proper evaluation, status, and rights protection for educators. He emphasized that state awards and honors will now be awarded based on transparent policy guidelines and professional merit to resolve long-standing disparities and elevate overall educational quality.
The Education Minister made these declarations during a crowded press conference held at the Secretariat’s Ministry of Education on Sunday (September 6, 2026). Minister Milan highlighted that teacher evaluations suffered severe bias under the former administration, where a nominal total of only 12 teachers received national honors. The current government is addressing this deprivation by selecting 100 meritorious teachers from across the nation to receive official state honors and awards on World Teachers’ Day, upcoming October 5. Additionally, the ministry is prioritizing the formulation of a modern social media code of conduct for educators and working to permanently streamline pension processing delays for retired teachers. At the same press briefing, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleq confirmed that MPO-enlisted private educational institution teachers will also be brought under the comprehensive benefits of the national pay scale, with full details to be clarified upon formal directives from the Ministry of Finance.
