Bangladeshi star all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz delivered a stellar spin-bowling performance on his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) debut for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, taking three crucial wickets to restrict Saint Lucia Kings to a low total and guide his side to a vital victory.
On Friday (September 11, 2026), Saint Lucia Kings won the toss and elected to bat first at the Providence Stadium. Replacing Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi in Guyana’s playing XI, Miraz immediately justified his selection.
Coming into the attack in the seventh over of the innings, Miraz provided the initial breakthrough off his final delivery by having Saint Lucia batter John Campbell (12) caught by Quentin Sampson. He dealt a double blow in his third over, trapping Khemol Savory leg-before-wicket (LBW) for 2 on the first ball before having Sri Lankan batter Charith Asalanka caught by Shai Hope on the final ball.
Restricted by the tandem spin assault of Miraz and veteran Imran Tahir, Saint Lucia Kings were bowled out for just 119 runs in 19.2 overs. Chasing a target of 120, Guyana Amazon Warriors reached the finish line in 18.3 overs despite losing 6 wickets. Although Miraz scored just 1 run remaining unbeaten, his performance with the ball proved to be the match-defining factor.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors will play their next match against Trinbago Knight Riders on Saturday (September 12, 2026), starting at 5:00 AM BDT.
