Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, MP for Dhaka-8, and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister, returned home on Wednesday night (September 2, 2026) after receiving more than five months of medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia.
The flight carrying the veteran political leader landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 9:30 PM. BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan confirmed his arrival, noting that Mirza Abbas returned upon the explicit advice and approval of the specialized medical board overseeing his care. A large crowd of BNP leaders and activists gathered at the airport to welcome him.
The senior leader fell ill on March 11 after suddenly losing consciousness during Iftar. Following emergency brain surgery at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, his condition required advanced intervention, leading to his transfer via air ambulance to Singapore General Hospital on March 15. On April 14, he was moved to Prince Court Medical Centre in Malaysia for continued specialized care and ongoing physiotherapy before receiving clearance to return to Bangladesh.
