Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, a prominent professor in the Department of Law at the University of Dhaka, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC/PSC).
The decision was officially communicated in a gazette notification issued on Wednesday (September 2, 2026) by the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration. Under Article 138(1) of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the President appointed him to this key constitutional post in the public interest.
The notification stated that pursuant to Article 139(1) of the Constitution, Prof. Nazmuzzaman will serve as PSC Chairman for a term of five years from the date he assumes office, or until he reaches the age of 65—whichever comes first. The appointment fills the vacancy left by the resignation of former chairman Prof. Mobasser Monem on August 18.
