A new era has begun for Bangladesh women’s T20I cricket following a leadership transition. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced experienced left-arm spinner Nahida Akter as the new captain of the national women’s T20I squad. Concurrently, promising top-order batter Sobhana Mostary has been named the team’s vice-captain.
The decision was officially confirmed by the BCB on Sunday (October 18, 2026). The national cricket governing body named the new leadership duo after formally accepting the resignation of former successful captain Nigar Sultana Joty, who stepped down from the role.
