President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon all key stakeholders—including BGMEA, BKMEA, and BTMA—to work together in a coordinated manner to address the ongoing challenges and global economic pressures facing Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector.
The President made the remarks on Wednesday (September 23, 2026) during a courtesy meeting with a high-level delegation from the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) at Bangabhaban.
During the session, the President emphasized the need for a collaborative approach that ensures balanced rights and governance for factory owners, workers, and investors to keep the national economy dynamic.
To stimulate fresh industrial investment, President Alamgir underscored the necessity of bringing bank loan interest rates down to a rational level. Furthermore, to mitigate ongoing electricity and gas supply shortages, he urged industrial leaders to accelerate the adoption of solar power and other green, eco-friendly renewable energy solutions within factory premises.
Highlighting the historic and indispensable contribution of the RMG sector in earning foreign exchange and generating employment, the President assured continued policy support to sustain the sector’s long-term growth and global competitiveness.
