Maintaining economic and naval blockades against Iran will inflict several times more financial loss and expenditure on Washington than on Tehran, according to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The elite Iranian military force issued this warning while asserting that the United States’ strategy of economic and military pressure is bound to fail.
In an exclusive interview with Iran’s state-aligned Mehr News Agency, IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi outlined Tehran’s position. “If the United States wants to inflict one dollar of economic damage on Iran, it may end up incurring losses estimated at many dollars to itself,” Mohebi stated. Dismissing US President Donald Trump’s belief that military power could force Iran into submission as disconnected from reality, Mohebi pointed out structural vulnerabilities in the American economy.
The IRGC spokesperson further highlighted that the United States is currently burdened by a massive national debt and intense global competition with China and other major economies. Under these circumstances, Washington will fail to achieve its desired outcomes through military strikes or maritime and financial blockades. Instead, aggressive measures against Tehran will ultimately create long-term financial drains and economic liabilities for the United States.
