The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) remains steadfast in holding a massive protest at Delhi’s historic Jantar Mantar on Saturday, pressing for a single-point demand: the immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India. In response, Delhi Police and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs have enforced unprecedented security measures and administrative restrictions across the capital to head off widespread disruption.
Beginning early Saturday morning (October 10, 2026), a stringent seven-layer security perimeter was erected around Jantar Mantar and adjacent high-security zones.
Key developments surrounding the political impasse in New Delhi include:
Massive Deployment of Security Forces: Over 20,000 armed personnel from the Delhi Police and central paramilitary forces (including CRPF and BSF) have been deployed around Jantar Mantar, Parliament, and adjacent diplomatic enclaves. More than 300 specialized CCTV cameras equipped with audio recording capabilities have been set up to monitor crowd gathering.
Suspension of Mass Transit and Internet Services: As a precautionary measure, entry and exit gates across 45 key Delhi Metro stations have been sealed. Indian Railways has also canceled several long-distance and suburban trains heading into the capital. Furthermore, mobile internet and broadband services have been suspended for 24 hours within a 4-kilometer radius centered on the Janpath–Kartavya Path intersection to prevent coordinated gathering.
Firm Rebuttal by Abhijit Deepak: Responding to the administrative crackdown, CJP founder and leader Abhijit Deepak categorically stated that blocking roads and shutting down internet access would not deter their movement. He asserted that hundreds of thousands of CJP workers and supporters would overcome administrative barriers to assemble at Jantar Mantar for the scheduled demonstration.
