An explosive-laden drone has targeted an Israeli military engineering vehicle in Southern Lebanon. Strongly protesting the attack, Israel has officially accused Lebanese armed groups of breaching the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
In a statement released on Wednesday (July 29), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that late Tuesday night, a Lebanese armed group launched an explosive-laden drone targeting an IDF engineering vehicle on patrol in the “Ali Taher Ridge” region of occupied Southern Lebanon. The military confirmed that no casualties were sustained in the incident.
Ceasefire Breach & IDF Warning
An IDF spokesperson characterized the attack as a direct and severe violation of the active ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
The IDF stated unequivocally that troops will firmly maintain their military presence in the border mountain area and will not allow any armed or terrorist group to reorganize in the region or gain an opportunity to launch further attacks on Israeli soldiers.
Retaliatory Artillery Fire & Next Steps
Following the strike, Israel reinforced its positions along the border. In response, the IDF has already launched retaliatory artillery fire into the targeted area. Senior military officials are currently reviewing the security situation to determine further necessary measures.
