US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will not launch any military strikes against Iran prior to the upcoming US Midterm Elections on November 3, 2026. In a statement posted on ‘Truth Social’, President Trump characterized ongoing discussions with Tehran as “fruitful” and explicitly clarified his administration’s position on pausing military escalations.
Following the outbreak of conflict on February 28, 2026, which triggered severe crude oil price surges across global markets and intensified domestic political debates, the President’s declaration carries significant geopolitical weight.
In his Truth Social post, Trump specifically noted: “We will not, under any circumstances, launch military strikes against Iran before the Midterm Elections on November 3rd. Fruitful discussions are currently taking place between the United States and Iran; however, economic sanctions and the naval blockade on Iran remain fully in effect.”
Trump asserted that despite the stringent US naval blockade, international oil shipments continue through the vital waterway. He claimed a record 22 million barrels of oil flowed through the Strait in a single night recently, emphasizing that not a single barrel originated from or was destined for Iran.
While leaving room for diplomatic negotiations, Trump reiterated Washington’s firm stance: Iran will under no circumstances be permitted to acquire nuclear weapons.
The wider conflict erupted on February 28, 2026, triggering intense regional missile and drone engagements. Although a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was brokered in June through the mediation of Pakistan and Qatar, implementation remains stalled over disputes concerning maritime security and sovereignty in the Strait of Hormuz.
