The existing ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen remains active and intact, confirmed Mike Huckabee, the US Ambassador to Israel.
This diplomatic communication was reported on Tuesday (September 15, 2026), citing the Qatar-based news agency Al Jazeera.
During a press briefing, Ambassador Huckabee noted that the previously established understanding and ceasefire between Washington and the Houthi forces continue to hold. Addressing regional security, he stated: “While minor localized friction persists along the Saudi Arabia-Yemen border region, it has not escalated into a wider regional conflict across the Middle East—which is undoubtedly a positive sign.”
This comes after US President Donald Trump stated last Saturday that Houthi rebels had communicated directly with Washington, requesting that the United States refrain from direct military intervention in their ongoing internal political and military conflict with Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
The US administration originally reached a strategic truce with the Houthis in May 2025 following an extended military campaign aimed at stopping attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and long-range missile strikes targeting Israeli territory.
