The joint top command of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the national armed forces has issued a stern warning of harsh retaliation following recent US air and missile strikes on various Iranian military bases.
In a brief post on social media platform X on Tuesday (September 1, 2026), IRGC Spokesperson Brigadier General Sardar Mohebi stated that US forces will pay a heavy price for Washington’s new aggression and provocations. In his message, he clearly emphasized, “America will regret its new strikes, and a severe and painful punishment awaits the aggressors.”
Meanwhile, a joint statement issued by the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters—published on Iranian state broadcaster IRIB—denounced the US military operation as an act of “terrorism.” The statement warned that “crushing and devastating blows” will soon be dealt to US forces. Iranian military leadership further cautioned Washington that the more aggression it carries out in the Middle East, the heavier the casualties and damage its bases and military assets will suffer.
Iran’s fierce response stems from escalating tensions near the Strait of Hormuz. The Pentagon and US Central Command (CENTCOM) maintained that the targeted precision strikes on IRGC air defense systems, radars, and infrastructure were conducted in retaliation for IRGC attempts to lay sea mines and attack international commercial vessels and US military forces in the waterway.
